Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was expected for doubts to be asked about his position after a further convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the team's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received a lot of support from above,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points naturally but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase such as this with performances like these.”

He concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is gone, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
