Brian Eno Urges Public Help to Get Together for Palestine Song to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to propel a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign seeks to send support to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to support Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”
Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.
“It occupies a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Production History and Contributing Musicians
The song was recorded in the wake of a solidarity show held in September. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of musicians featured on Lullaby includes a range of prominent voices from the scene. All participated in the benefit event, which successfully generated a significant sum for charitable causes.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of talented individuals. The track blends a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The group managing the project have emphasized that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These donations will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a spokesperson commented. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”
The situation in the area was described as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of property reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a few million won't make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is primarily raising awareness for this issue and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The song is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
