Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities report that a former physician stands accused of performing assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

The charging documents outline the forty-five sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
