Netflix Casts Perfect Actor for Bentham in the Hit Series Third Season
Baroque Works is geared up to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, although the real showdown isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has recently been selected.
Netflix announced this week that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Mr. 2. This character possesses the power to change into an exact copy of anyone they’ve touched with their dominant hand. The actor, who is identifies as non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a interpretation of that role reinterpreted as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag queen, in the live-action series, unlike the source material and anime.
Escola is joined by several other recently announced actors set to bring the group to the screen, featuring head Sir Crocodile, played by the well-known actor, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and a familiar face, who also joins the cast as the ruler of Alabasta.
Though this character is a major member of Baroque Works, the individual won’t make their debut One Piece season 3. Given the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this represents a major departure in the schedule of the character’s debut, one that could indicate additional alterations to the plot development.
The actor’s combination of excellent comedic sense and profound feeling makes them a standout choice for the character. Besides their recent voice performance in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for penning and acting in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, emphasizing the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s most celebrated roles.
The platform’s adapted One Piece program is due to premiere for its second season on March 10th, 2026.
