The individual beams as he points the recording device on his own face and his fellow fighters, their Rapid Support Forces insignia clearly shown: "The victims will all die like this."

The combatants are celebrating a mass killing that humanitarian officials fear claimed the lives of more than 2,000 individuals in the Sudan's urban center of el-Fasher last month.

A City Isolated from the Outside

After maintaining the city under blockade for approximately two years, from late summer the paramilitary force moved to reinforce its position and prevent access for the remaining civilian population.

Orbital photography demonstrate that forces began to construct a enormous earth barrier - a raised sand barrier - surrounding the perimeter of el-Fasher, sealing off entry points and preventing aid.

As the siege worsened, multiple individuals were slain in an militia strike on a religious building on mid-September, while the international organization reported 53 further were killed in unmanned aircraft and artillery strikes on a refugee settlement in the autumn.

Disturbing Recording Shows Defenseless Individuals Executed

In the early morning on late October the militia overwhelmed the final government positions and seized the central compound in the urban area, the command center of the Army Division, as the government forces retreated.

One of the most disturbing footage to emerge and studied showed the results of a mass killing at a educational facility on the western side of the urban area, where scores dead bodies were seen scattered throughout the area.

An elderly person clad in a traditional garment was seated alone amongst the corpses. The individual rotated to glance as a militiaman carrying with a weapon moved descending the staircase towards the individual. pointing his firearm, the gunman released a single bullet at the man, who dropped to the surface lifeless.

"For what reason is this one still breathing," a combatant shouted. "Kill him."

Space-based imagery taken on October 26th appeared to verify that executions were also conducted on the thoroughfares of al-Fashir, as reported by a study issued by the academic research center.

An witness who communicated reported they had witnessed "many of our family members being executed - these individuals were assembled in one place and all murdered."

Militia Leaders Attempt to Carry Out Public Relations

Following the events that ensued from the killings, militia commander acknowledged that his fighters had carried out "atrocities" and announced the events would be examined.

Among those arrested was after a report documenting his executions. Carefully choreographed and edited video shared on the RSF's authorized social media platform reveal him being escorted into a prison room at a prison on the outskirts of the city.

Meanwhile, the RSF and affiliated social media channels commenced seeking to alter the narrative.

Posts depicting its militiamen distributing aid to civilians were shared by some users, while the force's public relations unit released multiple recordings claiming to display the proper management of military detainees.

Regardless of the digital effort being used by the RSF, their activities in el-Fasher have generated worldwide condemnation.
