A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a nation battling entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the downtown area on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Officials stated the 40-year-old media personality was approached by three individuals, one of whom shot at him before running away.
The purpose behind the attack remains unclear and no arrests have taken place, as per the official statement.

Police said that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a location close to the city center landmark.

The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but succumbed to his injuries a short distance away.
