That Gruesome Animated Movie Ending That Stays With Fans

Among every mature animated films I’ve personally viewed, no other has remained with me as much as the terror-laced finale of the viscerally violent as well as deeply subversive film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.

In the year 2015, the Spain-based filmmaker created a grim, somber , frequently brutal world with a few small , desolate hints of optimism.

While The Unicorn Wars appears as it came from a desire to push animation even more, the director explained that it was actually a try to express a universal, cross-cultural message about “the mutual source of every conflict.”

That message is communicated via a group of brightly hued teddy bears , openly based on a popular line of cuddly characters.

Growing up in a culture built around warmongering and the defense industry, many of these animals are consumed by exterminating unicorns, thanks to a holy book which states them they previously were kings of the woods, until the horned beings expelled them.

Others have not completely bought into the brainwashing, and prefer to experiment with drugs or mate in the forest.

Unlike their cuddly counterparts, these vivid animals have visible genitals , obvious libidos.

For one especially vicious, pessimistic creature, the character Bluey, the war against the unicorns becomes a route to power — and especially to authority above his gentler, nicer brother the bear Tubby.

This bear is a bully , a seeming sociopath , and while terror overcomes his squad and claims his teammates one by one, he seizes progressively control on his own behalf, in increasingly gory, damaging approaches.

At the same time, these mythical beings are suffering their own nightmare, as an expanding, harmful creature in their woods.

“In the early stages, it seems like a comedy,” the filmmaker commented. “But then it evolves into a more serious and sad film. And ultimately, it transforms into a terrifying movie.”

The Unicorn Wars commences resembling among the whimsical films by an iconic animator, that discover a wicked pleasure in allowing animated figures swear, fire weapons, or sex each other up.

Afterward it turns into something more like a darker work by that same artist, featuring progressively explicit brutality , a tangible link to the actual horror of conflict.

In the finale, it is a complete theatrical horror bloodbath.

The fear that turns the film a perfect Halloween viewing kicks in well before than that description suggests.

The Unicorn Wars is suited for the devoted lovers of violence, for enthusiasts of intense movies who desire to watch something they have not viewed until now, and who can handle a narrative which delivers no restraint.

View it with the lights off with no disturbances, and the finale will crawl into your mind and take up residence there.
