Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline including angels, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem unsuited, but the developments of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Fans can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
