Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a prosperous future away from worry.”

The event, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The swine, donated by a first responder, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people shouting “six seven” – inspired by a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The craze became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently declared “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: vibrant, multicultural, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Each year, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they celebrated Six Seven’s big moment.
