A seven-time Grand Slam singles champion Venus Williams has secured a wild-card entry for the Australian Open, commencing on the 18th of January in Melbourne.

Tournament officials confirmed on Friday that the 45-year-old icon will grace the courts again at the tournament venue a staggering 28 years after her debut. During 1998, she defeated her sibling Serena in the early stage before bowing out in the last eight to compatriot Lindsay Davenport.
